Dante AV Networking World InfoComm 2018 - Las Vegas, NV

Jun 05, 2018

Audinate’s Dante AV Networking World training event at InfoComm will take place on the 5th of June at the Renaissance Las Vegas Hotel. In response to feedback from attendees, we will be rolling out a new format for Dante AV Networking World at InfoComm 2018.

There will be three, full-day tracks running simultaneously in separate rooms, spanning a wide variety of experience levels.

  • Track A will offer Dante Level 1 and Level 2 certification training, with the addition of interactive workstations to practice the concepts being covered. This track will also feature real-world examples of Dante installations from the manufacturer sponsors.

  • Track B will offer Level 3 Dante Certification, and is designed only for the Level 1 and Level 2-certified users. This advanced training program covers networking best practices geared toward attendees already using Dante who seek to create large scale system installations.

  • Track C will offer a brand new course called "Optimizing Your Dante Network," designed to teach attendees about some of the key design concepts, and more common technologies deployed in typical medium-sized networks. This course is ideal for reinforcement of Dante Certification topics along with new approaches to IT convergence, system design and more. This course will give attendees practical real-world examples to get the most out of their Dante network, and the opportunity to practice them in a hands-on, interactive environment.

You will also have an opportunity to meet with some of the most influential audio manufacturers! This year’s sponsors include: Audinate, Bose, Crest Audio, Extron, Focusrite Pro, Nexo, Peavey Commercial Audio, Music Group, Powersoft Audio, Shure, Symetrix, Visionary Solutions and Yamaha Commercial Audio.

Session Descriptions

Track A: Level 1 and 2 Dante Certification Training

Level 1 Dante Certification Training is an introductory course for users who are new to networking. This session provides a foundation in audio and networking concepts and may be all that is required to assemble and operate a small, stand-alone Dante audio system.  It is designed to provide a useful background in audio networking for audio professionals, and does not assume any previous background in computer networking. To complete Level 1 Certification, an online test must be passed after completing this course.

Course Topics

  • What is Dante?
  • Digital audio basics: a review of fundamentals as they related to networked audio.
  • IP Networking basics: a high level look at basic networking.
  • Using Dante: using the Dante Controller to connect and manage devices on a Dante network.
  • Dante Controller Basics
  • Dante Virtual Soundcard

Level 2 Dante Certification is an intermediate course designed for intermediate to advanced Dante users, and should only be taken once Level 1 has been completed. To complete Level 2 Certification, you must pass an online skills test and knowledge test.

Course Topics

  • Dante Controller - Configuration and Diagnostics Tools
  • Dante redundancy
  • Clocking
  • Latency
  • Unicast & Multicast
  • Dante Flows

Track B: Level 3 Dante Certification Training

Dante Level 3 Certification Training is designed only for the Level 1 and Level 2-certified users. This advanced training program covers networking best practices geared toward attendees already using Dante who seek to create large scale system installations.

Course Topics

  • Advanced networking concepts
  • Mixed use networks
  • Networking best practices
  • Troubleshooting techniques

Track C: "Optimizing Your Dante Network"

"Optimizing Your Dante Network" is a new course designed to teach attendees about some of the key design concepts, and more common technologies deployed in typical medium-sized networks. This course is ideal for reinforcement of Dante Certification topics along with new approaches to IT convergence, system design and more. In order to participate in the secure Dante Network (including Dante Domain Manager) demonstration – attendees will need to bring a Laptop running Windows (10 preferably) or MAC OSX, on a machine with a 1gbps wired ethernet connector.

This course will give attendees practical real-world examples to get the most out of their Dante network, and the opportunity to practice them in a hands-on, interactive environment.

Course Topics

  • Fundamentals: How packet switched networks function, What is IP? What is a Layered model? Network transport layers (TCP/UDP… where they work best).
  • IP Routing – Simpler than “they” say. IP network addressing techniques
  • Network resilience techniques (high availability, and exploits of standards to create redundancy)
  • Concepts for Integrating Audio Networks with Larger Property IT Infrastructure
  • Synchronizing devices (its time, not clock) – PTP and why it is popular not just in Audio
  • Terminology – “so nice they named it thrice”
