Dante Domain Manager does not run natively on Windows or macOS.

Dante Domain Manager is a server product that contains its own OS and is intended for use as a Virtual Machine using hypervisor products such VMWare ESXi, Hyper-V, or VirtualBox. It may alternatively it be installed on “bare metal” PC hardware that contains no operating system.

For most users, the easiest way to try out Dante Domain Manager is to use a hypervisor. This allows you to run the trial on nearly any machine you have, whether Windows or Mac. Keep in mind that because Dante Domain Manager is a server product, it must remain running continuously to ensure that you maintain full access to your Dante network.

The Dante Domain Manager 60-day trial supports up to 50 Dante devices and allows for the creation of up to 10 independent domains.

Frequently asked questions

What support does Audinate provide?

You have 60 days access to knowledge articles, install videos and guides. If you are still scratching your head, raise a ticket and our Support team will get back to you.

Visit Dante Domain Manager Support for more information.

My integrator normally supports me, can I arrange a trial through them?

Yes. Just tell your integrator that you would like to trial DDM. They can request a trial on your behalf and support you through the process. A list of authorized Dante Domain Manager resellers is provided at the bottom of https://www.audinate.com/products/software/dante-domain-manager.

What happens to existing audio subscriptions when I enroll a device into DDM?

Installing DDM has no impact on your existing devices or subscriptions unless you choose to create a new configuration.

By default, Dante devices remember the name of the device(s) and the channel(s) that they have subscriptions with. If a subscription exists between 2 devices, and both of those are enrolled into the same DDM domain, the subscriptions will successfully restore. You should allow for some interruption to audio. The same is true is when you unenroll devices from domains.

Can I use the trial on my production network?

There are no restrictions on where the DDM trial can be used. However, like all new tools, we strongly recommend using in a safe environment. An initial test with a few non-critical devices outside production is considered a best practice.

What hardware / hosting environment do I need?

DDM is provided as a standard ISO, allowing you to deploy on your choice of hypervisor (VMWare ESXi, Hyper-V, VirtualBox, etc.) or even on bare metal hardware. If you are running a limited trial of 10 devices or so, the processing requirements are very small; a basic laptop or small form factor machine, like an Intel NUC, will be more than enough. A trial with 50 devices would require more processing power.

What if I need longer than 60 days or for more than 50 devices?

You will see the simple power of DDM very quickly, however we appreciate that sometimes you need a little longer or to try it on a larger network. Just let us know how we can help you https://www.audinate.com/contact/sales

What happens at the end of the trial?

When your trial of Dante Domain Manager ends, you have the option to purchase DDM and retain settings and domains you’ve created, or you may determine that DDM is not right for you and wish to discard any changes to your Dante devices. If you have any questions or would like to talk about purchasing DDM, talk to one of our sales representatives (https://www.audinate.com/contact/sales).
